“Reinhard Ploss will bring decades of DAX group experience. Furthermore, there are quite a few parallels between the former semiconductor business and today’s battery sector. CustomCells faces similar challenges as Infineon did in the Reinhard Ploss era. Ploss served as CEO and CTO of Infineon Technologies AG from 2012 to 2022. He had been a management board member at Infineon since 2007 and was responsible for operations. Ploss, who holds a degree in process engineering and a doctorate in engineering, started his professional career in 1986 in the semiconductor division of Siemens AG.
In 2018, Ploss became a presidium member at acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering. In 2022, he became the president of acatech as well as an executive board member. Ploss is currently the supervisory board chair of Knorr-Bremse AG and a supervisory board member at Deutsche Telekom AG.

During his time as CEO of Infineon, Ploss played a key role in driving the company’s expansion and diversification, consolidating its position in the high-tech sector. This expertise is expected to drive CustomCells forward in its upcoming technology decisions and internationalization towards the U.S. and Asia.
CustomCells is a spin-off of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and has been active in the development and series production of state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery cells for ten years. The new strategy is to continue driving international growth.
